Unlike other websites, we compare and list all 17 legal betting sites in France in English. Our goal? To give ex-pats and English speakers living in France honest reviews and all the options! Note that because betting sites are regulated in France, you will have to be a French resident and have a French address to use any of the bookmakers below.
We listed all 17 licensed French bookmakers and their sign up bonuses above but we've also reviewed each of them and ranked them below.
We've rated the best bookmakers in France based on a number of factors including their welcome bonuses and regular promotions, the number of markets they offer, the quality of their odds, their website, apps and English (if they offer it), their payment methods, and any extra features they have that set them apart.

1. NetBet
NetBet is not the prettiest French bookmaker, and their sign up bonus while reasonable leaves something to be desired. Despite these things though they do have a lot going for them under the hood.
This includes a bet builder with odds boosts and insurance promos, a loyalty program, live streaming, jackpot prizes every weekend, cash out, tons of deposit options, and betting statistics. So, overall, NetBet is not our first choice but is certainly worth giving a go.

Possibly France's ugliest bookmaker (the competition is fierce), NetBet surprises with a strong range of odds and even live streaming for certain leagues
NetBet's welcome bonus is quite weak compared to other French sign up bonuses. You'll get your first bet refunded if it loses up to €50 as two free bets (max €25 each). Your first free bet will be awarded after your first bet settles and the second after successful ID verification.
NetBet also refunds up to 10% of your cumulative losses after 30 days up to €50 which is again awarded as two free bets (max €25 each). Overall, this bonus is worth claiming but is one of the least valuable in France given you have to lose so much to take advantage of it.
2. PMU
With the only cash welcome bonus in France (as opposed to free bets), along with plenty of regular promotions including free bets, odds boosts, social media promos, prediction competitions and cash bonuses for bet builders PMU is certainly a betting account you'll want to have.
Combine this with quality odds, 20+ different sports markets and live chat and phone support and you have another competitive French betting site to choose from. We'd still love to see more live streamed events, more cash out options, and more odds boosts but this is only if we're looking for downsides.
Pros
✓
Best bonus & top promos
✓
20+ different sports markets
✓
Live chat and phone support
Cons
✕
Cash out option not widespread
✕
Live streaming not widespread
Don't let the questionable design fool you, PMU is one of France's best bookmakers with a cash bonus and an English website
PMU has one of France's best welcome bonuses - a cash refund if your first bet between €10 and €100 loses. Your first bet needs to be a single bet and your refund will be paid out in two parts, 25% within 10 days of your bet losing and the remaining 75% within 10 days of account verification.
Most French sign up bonuses are paid out in free bets, so having a withdrawable cash refund really makes this bonus risk-free and unique.
3. Unibet
Unibet is another serious contender for France's best betting site. This Swedish bookie stands out in many areas but foremost with their very diverse sportsbook that includes some of the best prices for major football, basketball and US sports but also minor golf tournaments, winter sports, combat sports, horse racing, darts and more.
Unibet offers live streaming through Unibet TV, stats, cash out, a bet builder, regular boosted odds and free bets offers and of course France's biggest welcome bonus. We'd love to see a few changes like the ability to 'favourite' leagues or events but overall, there's not much to complain about here.
Pros
✓
The deepest sportsbook in France

Top website & app design
Cons

A quality bonus, very deep sportsbook, solid promos, live streaming and high odds across the board makee Unibet France hard to beat
Quite possibly France's best sign up bonus, Unibet refunds your first bet between €5 and €100 in free bets if it loses. Then they give you an additional €20 cash refund if your first horse racing bet settles as a loss plus they match your first deposit up to €250 in poker free bets and throw in 2 free poker tournament tickets.
Even if it's a lot to keep track of we certainly aren't left wanting more bonus money so we reckon that Unibet's bonus is definitely worth claiming, whether you plan on using them long-term or not.
4. Winamax
Winamax, the poker-first operator punches above its weight with its sportsbook offering consistently high odds on all events along with regular promotions, referral bonuses, boosted odds and extras for the biggest events.
Winamax is also one of 3 French betting sites that is available in English. Overall we were more than surprised with the Winamax sports offering and especially appreciated the high football odds and the very extensive number of markets offered.

Uninspiring website design
Not only is Winamax's site available in English but they have consistently high odds and loyalty bonuses for new players and VIPs
Winamax offers a better than average welcome bonus for new players - double your first deposit up to €100 in free bets. Even though your first deposit must be wagered before it can be withdrawn, we like this better than a bet refund as it means you get your bonus money whether you lose your first bet or not.
Winamax also matches your first deposit up to €250 in free bets as a loyalty bonus. Free bets are credited in increments of 20% (eg. up to €50 at a time) for every 600 miles accumulated. All in all, a solid and rewarding welcome bonus we definitely would suggest taking advantage of.
5. Bwin
Austria-based Bwin has the backing of one of the world's biggest booking companies (Entain PLC) and as such brings a strong selection of markets and prices to France, especially for the most popular events as well as a well-thought-out website and apps that are modern and quick to load.
We have definitely seen a decrease in promotions offered by Bwin in recent years but apart from this and a few other minor grievances when we expect better odds for smaller events for example, Bwin is a very good betting site with cash out, live streaming, top quality customer service and a valuable welcome bonus.
Pros
✓
Attractive, fast & intuitive deisgn

A bigger international bookmaker, Bwin offers a quality welcome bonus, deep sportsbook, easy-to-use site and plenty of live betting markets
Bwin recently updated their welcome offer for the better, now you can claim up to €200 in free bets.
This offer is really straight forward, which we love. You must deposit €10-€200, wager €10-€200 with minimum odds of 1.50, and free bets equal to your wager amount will be awarded. Free bets are valid for 90 days and must be wagered in order to convert into cash that you can withdrawal.
Overall its great value and is another welcome bonus we'd definitely suggest claiming.
6. Betsson
Another Swedish bookie that made its entry into France relatively recently, Betsson brings the competitive quality from its experience in other markets around the world including South America and much of Europe. That means quality odds and deep markets especially for football where the bet builder is one of the most advanced of its kind.
While the total number of sports at Betsson is limited to around 15, there's no live chat or live streaming and they still have limited payment options you will find full and partial cash out options, promos for losing accumulator bets and a faster app than most.
Pros

Swedish-owned Betsson is one of France's newest and sexiest betting sites with quality odds, a good bonus and great bet builder functionality
Another top bonus but with tougher conditions, Betsson gives you 100% of your first deposit between €10 and €100 in bonus cash. Then they also throw in an extra €10 no deposit bonus when you use the promo code VERIF10 after ID verification.
Note that all of your bonus money must be wagered 3 times on bets with at least one selection at minimum odds of 2.00 or higher, so if you get the maximum €110 in bonus money you'll need to place bets worth at least €330 before you can withdraw your deposit and bonus money.
7. Parions Sport
Mostly state-owned, Parions Sport is France's oldest bookmaker and still one of the biggest and best betting sites today. They offer better than average odds for the most part, a large range of markets, especially for French sports and one of the best welcome bonuses available today.
Otherwise most of the expected features like live streaming, cash out, and modern apps are available with Parions Sport although they are missing the football lottery games that make their shops so popular.
Pros

Mostly state-owned, Parions Sport is France's leading homegrown bookie and rightfully so with quality promos and many French and international sporting markets
France's biggest bookmaker has one of the simplest and best-value sign up bonuses. New customers get their first bet of at least €5 matched up to €85 in free bets plus a €15 no deposit bonus that can be claimed by using the promo code PARIONS15 after ID verification.
There's nothing scary about Parions Sport's sign up bonus and because you don't need to lose your first bet to get your free bets is certainly worth your while.
8. ZEbet
ZEbet, the sports betting twin of France's ZEturf (horse racing), is definitely a solid bookmaker although not our top choice, primarily because we find their website to be a pain to use - no search bar and unintuitive navigation. Despite this, they own one of France's best sign up bonuses (that doesn't require you to lose any money) along with plenty of markets and competitive odds.
ZEbet also has numerous promotions including boosted odds and social media giveaways including free bets, their support staff is available 7 days a week on live chat (although not in English) and they accept many different payment methods including PayPal.
Pros

ZEbet is a solid bookmaker with plenty of sports markets, horse racing and daily odds boosts
Another bonus that doesn't require you to lose any bets, ZEbet will match your first bet between €15 and €100 in free bets. 50% of your free bets will be credited after your first bet settles and 50% of your free bets will be credited after successful account verification.
A pretty simple and quality bonus that shouldn't be your first choice but is worthwhile nonetheless.
9. Betclic
Betclic has long-been one of France's top betting sites, and still is today. With an impressive catalog of markets, ongoing promotions and features that include streaming, cash out, match stats etc. it's easy to see why.
While we'd of course appreciate an English language option, and perhaps a welcome bonus that didn't require us to lose our first bet, overall Betclic is a strong bookmaker with plenty of appealing features for both serious and casual bettors.
Pros
✓
Higher-than average odds

Another major French player, Betclic is suitable for all punters with many features, deep sports markets and features like streaming and cash out
Betclic offers a solid 100% refund if your first bet (singles only) loses. Your first bet needs to be between €10 and €100 and your refund is paid out in free bets.
There's not much else to say about this welcome offer other than we appreciate that the full refund is paid out all at once which makes this offer even more attractive.
10. OlyBet
Olybet is one of France's newest sites launching in October 2024. It offers a solid welcome bonus, loyalty rewards for regular players and features like a bet builder and cash out (although not partial cash out).
Olybet is still missing several things we take for granted these days like a live chat option and an iOS app, there's also no live streaming, referral bonuses and under 20 different sporting markets on offer. All in all a decent bookie, with plenty to bet on and valuable bonuses but we hope it continues to get better in the years ahead.
Pros

Bet builder and boosts
✓
Loyalty bonuses for regulars
Cons
✕
Missing live chat and iOS app

Olybet is one of France's newest sites offering interesting promos, a loyalty program but a still somewhat limited range of betting markets
OlyBet has the standard bet refund welcome offer with your first bet between €20 and €100 refunded in free bets if it loses. You'll get your refund when your account is fully verified.
A slightly higher minimum deposit, lack of any extra bonus money and the condition that your account needs to be fully verified before your refund is awarded make this bonus ever so slightly worse than the average bet refund offer in France.
11. Partouche Sport
Partouche Sport is another bookmaker that's easy to look past. They don't have the name recognition in Europe, or France, of many of the biggest betting sites and their offering is not exceptional in any way.
A below average welcome bonus awaits, along with below average odds, a lack of valuable promos and a website that is in need of a re-design. Still though, Partouche Sport has all the expected markets and features you may want including the ability to 'favourite' leagues you bet on regularly - something ignored by many of France's best betting sites.
Pros
✓
Reasonably wide range of markets
✓
Can 'favourite' leagues
✓
Cash out and live betting
Cons
✕
Generally below-average odds
✕

Partouche Sport is another mid-tier French bookie with a deep sportsbook and boosted odds offers perhaps their two best features
With a minimum deposit of €5 and a minimum qualifying bet of €2 you will get 100% of your first bet up to €100 refunded as free bets if it loses at Partouche Sport. Your first bet needs to have minimum odds of 1.10 and must be a single bet.
25% of your free bets will be credited within 24 hours and the remining will 75% will be credited after account verification - a pretty standard offer in France with nothing standing out to us.
12. Vbet
Vbet is a betting site that is easy to skip. Their offer for football, and tennis, is quite strong with all the markets you'd expect to see plus some extra football promos and pretty strong odds.
Aside from football though, Vbet is missing depth and breadth in their betting markets, their welcome bonus is sub-par and they don't offer live streaming. We'd still recommend signing up with Vbet but it's unlikely that they'll be a bookie you use long-term.
Pros
✓
24/7 live chat
✓
Strong football odds
✓
Several regular football promos
Cons

Questionable design choices may put some punters off but Vbet is a solid bookmaker and particularly strong for football
Vbet will refund 100% of your first bet if it loses between €1 and €100 provided that it's placed at a minimum odds of 1.10 or higher. 20% of your free bets are credited within 24 hours of your first bet settling while the remaining 80% are credited after account verification.
This offer is pretty standard although much of your bonus is withheld until after your account is verified which can be a bit frustrating.
13. Feelingbet
Feelingbet is a solid mid-range bookmaker that uses several different promotions to keep you entertained but lacks some of the extra features and quality of the biggest French betting sites. These promos include insurance offers with a refund if your bets lose in stoppage time or by one leg along with accumulator boosts, referral bonuses and other offers for major events.
We're missing extensive live streaming, would love higher odds and would like to see more stats and insights for pre-match and live bets. Still though, there's nothing to significant to complain about with Feelingbet and they're worth having an account with if for no other reasons than to take advantage of some of the betting offers.
Pros
✓
Accumulator and loyalty promos
✓
Insurance offers for football
✓
Up to €50 per month in referral bonuses
Cons

With a more modern website and apps than most, feelingbet is a solid option, although more sports and higher odds would be appreciated
Feelingbet's welcome bonus in France is a little more complicated than most. First, you'll get up to €50 refunded as two free bets if your first bet loses. 20% of your stake (eg. max €10) will be refunded when the first bet settles as loss while the remaining 80% (eg. max €40) will be refunded after you have completed your ID verification.
Each month thereafter you will need to contact support to receive up to €50 in free bets. €5 of free bets will be awarded each month for every €100 wagered on accumulator bets with at least 4 selections. You'll get free bets based-on how much you wager with a €5 free bet being awarded when €100-€199 is wagered up to a €50 free bet when €1000+ is wagered.
This sign up bonus is okay if you plan on betting a lot but otherwise, there are many simpler and more valuable bonuses to claim in France.
14. Genybet
Definitely a bookmaker that you can skip signing up with, GenyBet is one of the worst options for French residents. They only offer a limited range of markets, with relatively low odds, and a poor and confusing sign up bonus that is much better suited to horse racing punters but only if you plan on losing a lot.
We might forgive some of this but the only way to contact support is via email, they have no live streaming or cash out and they only accept debit card/paysafecard deposits. In some ways it feels like they don't really care about sports betting and so we don't really care for them.
Pros
✓
Horse racing bonus
✓
Decent quality apps
✓
Major sporting markets
Cons
✕
Poor odds/bonus/support/payments
✕
No English website
Genybet comes from the horse racing world and loves a lot to be desired for online betting, missing support options, betting markets and even standard features like cash out
GenyBet doesn't follow other bookies and offers a unique, albeit, less-valuable bonus than most other French betting sites. You'll be awarded up to €20 in free bet refunds if your first live bet settles as a loss.
After that, 10% of your sports betting losses will be refunded up to €15 in the first 30 days, and again up to €15 between 31 and 60 days, after account verification. Your first deposit will also be doubled up to €20 in horse racing free bets, and you'll get €10 in no deposit horse racing free bets after your account is verified. Finally, up to €170 in horse racing free bet refunds will be awarded in 15 day increments equaling 10% of your total losses.
All-in-all GenyBet has a better welcome bonus if you plan on betting on racing but it still requires large losses to claim most of it and so is not a bonus we would recommend to many punters.
15. CircusBet
CircusBet is another new player in France having launched in June 2024, taking over BarrièreBet's old license. While CircusBet is still improving and so is not one of our favourite French betting sites we appreciate that they offer HiPay (only Partouche Sport also offers this) along with a fully functional cash out feature.
CicrcusBet also has an edit bet feature, and boosted odds offers (although only taking these will get you quickly restricted) but we're missing a welcome bonus and betting apps. So enough to get our attention but we're still left wanting more for now.
Pros

CircusBet took over Barrière Bet's license in June 2024 and doesn't have betting apps or a welcome bonus for new players (yet)
YesOrNo is best described as a Tinder-style bookmaker, which disguises betting markets as yes or no questions. You then swipe left or right on to bet on one side or the other. Sound confusing? It was to us 'traditional' punters but whose to say that the youth of today won't all be betting like this in the future...
We don't really have much else to add about YesOrNo because it's not really a betting site (it only has an app for one thing) but if it sounds interesting enough then you may as well give it a try, or, like whatever dude.

Not known or named for their sports betting, Pokerstars Sports is one of the few bookmakers in France that users can access in English. While their focus is clearly on their poker product, for which they are among the best globally, there's enough to satisfy casual bettors here as well.
Expect major sporting markets, boosted odds offers, a reasonably deep football catalog, decent prices, cash out and their unique Spin & Bet feature. Don't expect a bet builder, live streaming, a modern app or an outstanding sign up offer though.

More well-known as a major global poker player, Pokerstars offers French residents a sportsbook complete with many international codes and an English version of the site
Pokerstars Sports has a simple 100% bet refund offer if your first bet between €1 and €100 loses. Your first bet will need to be placed at minimum odds of 1.50 and then if it loses you get 50% of the value of your first bet in free bets immediately followed by the remaining 50% after your fifth bet settles.
Thus Pokerstars Sports requires a slightly bigger investment from you to get your full welcome bonus although you subsequent bets can be low-stakes wagers if you wish so we're not too disappointed by this condition, we'd rather just not have to lose our first bet to receive a bonus.
Is Online Betting Legal in France?
Yes, since May 12th, 2010 online betting has been legal and regulated in France. This includes both sports and horse racing betting online, as well as online poker. French betting sites are regulated by the Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) (which has an English website).
As in most countries, players do not have to pay tax on their winnings in France, provided that they use a licensed French bookmaker (all of which are listed on this page).
We recommend betting with legal French bookmakers for this reason, and because they must follow strict data protection and problem gambling protocols which will ultimately keep you safer. Payments to and from legal betting sites are also recognised as legitimate by French banks and there is also a legal process to settle any disputes you may have with a bookmaker through the ANJ (two things which are not true for unlicensed betting sites).
What is the Best Betting Site in France?
Ultimately, the best betting site in France is going to be different for you than it is for us, you may not speak any French so need an English website, or perhaps you just want the best bonus, or need a betting site with a certain payment method. In saying this, here's what we think:
Unibet is the best French betting site. They have the biggest welcome bonus, consistently good odds, many betting markets, regular promos, quality apps, enough payment methods to keep most players happy and both live chat and phone support.
And even though they don't offer an English language option but they are one of the few French betting sites with Poker and horse racing.
When it comes to French bookmakers with English you can chose between PMU, Winamax and Pokerstars Sports. All three are solid enough with their own pros and cons but we prefer PMU because their bonus is paid in cash.
Of the 17 licensed bookmakers in France, only three are available in English. The three brands which support English are PMU, Winamax, and Pokerstars Sports.
No, Stake is not licensed by the Autorité Nationale des Jeux and therefor not a legal gambling operator within France.
We think Unibet is the best betting site in France. Unibet have the biggest welcome offer, competitive odds, great promos, a huge variety of markets, and all the most popular payment methods.
Yes, all licensed French bookmakers listed above (excluding Circusbet) support mobile apps. Note that Olybet only has an Android app, not iOS.
No, Bet365 is not licensed by the Autorité Nationale des Jeux and therefor not a legal gambling operator within France.
No, online casino is restricted in France. Although online regulators are seriously considering legalizing online casino in France in 2025.

My friends call me Pepito - I'll save your time and not share the story on how I got this name! I am a sports betting enthusiast, my passion first started by betting on the 2010 World Cup. Since 2010 my passion has only grown, betting with friends and looking for any edge we can find. The result has been thousands of bets placed across hundreds of different bookmakers, markets, leagues, and even within different countries.
In my experience there are very few honest comparison websites out there and even fewer that actually give you all the options. So, I was inspired to make listofallbookmakers.com. Here we give you all the options (not just those who will pay websites like ours 😉) with transparent reviews. I like to highlight the items that I look for when finding a new bookie - mainly being competitiveness of the odds, variety of bets to place, welcome offers, and trustworthiness.
