Ultimate Betting Sites Table: Full List, User Reviews, Filter by Category
Before we jump into the list, here’s a quick explanation of where the scores come from.
- User reviews: App store, Google Play, TrustPilot, ProductReview.com.au. We also factor in the total volume of reviews on each platform.
- Editorial reviews: We’ve considered all the major sportsbook review sites in Australia. Some of these sites are more revenue driven than others, so we’ve taken that into consideration as well.
We’ve cross referenced the ACMA database to ensure each operator has an active licence and employs responsible gambling tools. The brands are grouped by licence holder by default. Use the search/sort/filter buttons as you would on an excel doc if you’re looking for something specific.

10 Most Popular Betting Sites (Monthly Visits, User Ratings)
We’re committed to transparency, what better way than sticking to the numbers? We’ve found the highest-traffic gambling websites in Australia using third party tools such as semrush and similarweb. Take these stats with a grain of salt as the data ranges from 2025-2026, and the third party sources do not guarantee 100% accuracy. Still, the numbers paint a clear picture.
Here are the results, the technical and true list of the top 10 online wagering platforms in Australia:
- Sportsbet ~ 6.5-7M monthly visits
- Tab ~ 4-4.2M monthly visits
- bet365 ~ 3.3-4M monthly visits
- Ladbrokes ~ 1.4-1.9M monthly visits
- Betfair ~ 600-650K monthly visits
- Neds ~ 400-500K monthly visits
- PointsBet ~ 471,790 monthly visits
- TabTouch ~ 357K monthly visits
- Unibet ~ 280-320K monthly visits
- *Dabble ~ 100-200K monthly users
*Dabble is app only, meaning there’s no way to accurately say how many monthly visits the apps receive. App stores show over 100K downloads, and the Australian reported 232,000 monthly users back in 2025. We think they deserve to be on this top 10 list.

Is Online Betting Legal in Australia?
Yes, betting on sports and racing online is legal in Australia. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA) is the federal law that governs it and stipulates which responsible gambling tools need to be in place. Under the IGA, licensed online bookmakers and betting exchanges can legally accept wagers on racing and sports from Australian residents. What they cannot legally offer is in-play sports wagering online (you can still call it in), casino-style games, or poker for real money. Every operator on this page holds a licence issued by a state or territory authority and is registered with ACMA.
The licence your bookie holds doesn’t change much from a punter’s perspective. You can sign up to an NT-licensed site from any state, but it does tell you which regulator is responsible for complaints and compliance. Here’s how the licensing landscape breaks down.
State and Territory Licensing Authorities
The Northern Territory Racing Commission is one of the most common licences for online-only sportsbooks in Australia. NT licences can be held by operators based anywhere in the country, which is why the majority of new betting sites on this list, from the big corporates down to the smaller white-labels, are NT-licensed. The NT regulator keeps a public list of all current sports bookmaker licences on their website.
Liquor & Gaming NSW covers those incorporated in New South Wales. A growing number of white-label operators, particularly those on ApolloTech and Generation Web, hold NSW licences, which has made NSW the third most common (41) licensing jurisdiction on this list, behind VIC (45) and NT (42).
The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) oversees Victorian licensees, and it’s still the most popular licensing authority in Australia with 45 active licensees. Sites using BetMakers software are heavily represented here, along with several of the smaller independent operators.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) issues licences for WA-based operators. TABtouch and PlayWest are the only bookies on this list currently licensed through RWWA.
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) covers Queensland-based operators. BetGold is the only operator on this list currently licensed through QRIC.
If you have a complaint about a sports wagering site, start with the relevant state authority. You can also report unlicensed gambling services directly to ACMA, which maintains the national register and has the power to block access to illegal offshore sites.
How We Score Australian Bookmakers
How we rate online sportsbooks is really what makes us different compared to other Aussie review sites. If you’ve read any of our reviews, you know that we don’t only give a complete overview of each brand, but we also show you what others are saying. In the table above, the Avg /5 score is a blended figure. It pulls from three sources: our opinion, user ratings and editorial ratings. Each rating is given a weight based on its reliability, with user reviews having the most influence. For example, 1,000 authentic user reviews are given much more value than a revenue-driven affiliate recommendation.
Why User Reviews Are Important
We consider user reviews to be the most telling sign of any business, whether that be a restaurant or online wagering platform. They’re not always free from bias, but they’re certainly more reliable than paid editorial reviews, especially when there’s volume. For operators with a high number of reviews we also look for trends of complaints and praises. For example bet365 gets consistently praised for excellent mobile apps, and arguably even more complaints for limiting punters who are turning a profit.
We pull user ratings from the App Store, Google Play, TrustPilot, and ProductReview.com.au. Each platform is weighted by the volume of reviews, so a site with 40,000 App Store ratings carries more weight than one with 12. Sites with very few reviews across all platforms get a lower confidence weighting overall, which tends to push newer or niche operations towards the middle of the range until more data builds up.
Why Do We Consider Editorial Reviews?
We’re the only site in Australia to factor in scores from major Australian betting review sites. Not all review sites are equal, some are heavily monetised and tend to inflate scores for paying partners, so we either ignore or reduce the influence of sites that show obvious signs of revenue-driven ratings. We’re affiliates ourselves, so we also have a good idea of which partnership programs pay out better than others. Our ratings and reviews will never be influenced by our partnerships. Overall the editorial component carries less weight than the user component, but it helps fill gaps for newer sportsbooks where user review volumes are still developing.
The blended score is a useful starting point, not a definitive ranking. A score of 3.8 doesn’t mean one site offers better odds or stronger mobile apps than another with 3.7. What the score is good at is flagging the clear outliers: those sitting below 2.0 with consistent complaints across multiple platforms, and the handful at 4.2 and above that have genuinely earned strong user satisfaction at scale. Use it as a filter when comparing odds and features, not a bible.
Worst Australian Bookmakers
Every online sportsbook on this page holds a valid ACMA licence. But a valid licence doesn’t mean a good product. A significant chunk of the Australian market is made up of operators with consistently poor user reviews across every platform we track. We include them in the master list because this is a complete directory, but we’re not going to pretend every sportsbook here is worth your time. In fact most are worth avoiding.
The brands below all score below 2.0 in our blended ratings. The common threads are poor customer service, slow or problematic withdrawals, and apps that don’t work properly. In our opinion, most are low-effort, white-label books that have no real ambition to be a long term player.
TempleBet (0.2) and Bet777 (0.2) are the lowest-rated operators on the list. Both run on BetCloud, both have minimal app presence, and the reviews that do exist are overwhelmingly negative. TitanBet (0.4) is in the same boat, 7 App Store reviews averaging 2.7, no Play Store presence.
JustBet (0.6) and NinjaBet (0.7) both run on GenWeb software and a NSW licence with App Store averages sitting at 2.2 and 1.3 respectively.
GoldenBet888 (1.1) is a small NT-licensed BetCloud operator that has generated little engagement on either app platform. BetProfessor (1.3) and ChromaBet (1.4) round out the BetCloud low-end cluster.
None of the above are scams. They all hold valid licences and your deposits aren’t at risk in the same way they’d be with an unlicensed offshore operator. But there are 100+ other options in Australia. There’s no reason to bet with a bookie that can’t manage a 2-star average on the App Store.
FAQs About Australian Bookmakers
As of June 19, 2026, there are 132 active betting sites licensed by the ACMA. The number fluctuates often as new sites launch and others close or merge. We update this list regularly to reflect the current state of the market.
Yes. Online sports and racing wagering is legal for Australian residents provided you’re using a site that holds a valid licence from a state or territory authority. What’s not legal is in-play sports betting placed online, online casino games, and online poker for real money.
ACMA is the Australian Communications and Media Authority. It’s the federal body responsible for enforcing the Interactive Gambling Act, monitoring responsible gambling tools, and maintaining the public register of licensed gambling operators. If an online wagering website isn’t on the ACMA register, it’s operating illegally in Australia.
From a punter’s perspective, nothing. Both allow the operator to accept bets from Australians nationwide. The difference is purely administrative: which state regulator oversees the operator’s compliance and handles complaints.
Based on App Store and Google Play ratings weighted by review volume, bet365, TAB, and TABtouch consistently sit at the top. bet365 has over 300,000 combined app reviews averaging above 4.5. TAB and TABtouch both have 180,000+ App Store reviews with strong scores.
Yes, this is widespread. Most Australian online sportsbooks, particularly the larger corporate operators, will reduce bet limits or restrict accounts that show consistent profitability. Betfair’s exchange model is the main exception since it matches punters against each other rather than taking the other side of bets itself.
BetStop is Australia’s National Self-Exclusion Register launched in 2023 and one of the primary responsible gaming tools available in the country. Registering with BetStop bars you from opening new accounts or placing bets with all licensed Australian online sportsbooks simultaneously. It’s free to use and managed by ACMA. You can register at betstop.gov.au.
We update the list as new sites launch, existing ones close, and when there are significant changes to licences or ownership. The new bookmakers table at the top of the page is updated within days of a new site going live. App store scores and editorial ratings are reviewed periodically throughout the year.
