We compared 10 Canadian betting sites across nine games over three dates in March 2026, covering NHL, NBA, EPL, World Baseball Classic, and NCAA Men’s Basketball. The goal was straightforward: figure out which books consistently give you the best return on your bets, including whether the growing wave of crypto bookmakers can actually compete with more established, traditional betting sites.
TLDR: 1xBet leads the field on pure odds quality, and it’s not particularly close. Pinnacle is second, as expected. The real surprise is Gamdom, a crypto book that outperforms most of the mainstream names. On the other end, BC.Game and Stake are consistently the worst value in the group.
| Bookmaker | Avg. Margin | NHL Avg. | NBA Avg. | Other Avg. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1xBet | 2.71% | 3.13% | 1.38% | 3.63% |
| Pinnacle | 3.81% | 5.04% | 2.93% | 3.46% |
| Gamdom | 4.57% | 5.61% | 3.11% | 4.98% |
| bet365 | 5.11% | 5.78% | 4.36% | 5.19% |
| Sports Interaction | 5.85% | 7.79% | 4.65% | 5.12% |
| bwin | 5.85% | 7.79% | 4.65% | 5.12% |
| Wildz | 5.98% | 6.52% | 4.18% | 7.24% |
| Betway | 6.11% | 7.86% | 4.60% | 5.87% |
| Stake | 6.36% | 7.71% | 5.95% | 5.43% |
| BC.Game | 6.66% | 6.45% | 5.48% | 8.05% |
NHL = Ottawa/Calgary, LA/Columbus, MTL/Ottawa. NBA = Raptors/Wolves total, SGA prop, Cavs/Magic total. Other = EPL (Spurs/Palace), WBC (Cuba/Puerto Rico), NCAA (BYU/West Virginia).
For each game we recorded lines from 10 books available to Canadian bettors and calculated the bookmaker margin, which is the percentage above true probability that’s built into the odds. A 5% margin means the book keeps roughly $5 for every $100 wagered over time. The lower the margin, the better the value for you.
For most markets we calculated margins in full. For some additional prop lines we tracked prices only, since the comparison there is price-based rather than overall book efficiency.
1xBet is the sharpest book available to Canadians, with one big caveat. Their average margin of 2.71% across nine markets is nearly a full point better than Pinnacle (3.81%) and over two points better than bet365 (5.11%). The standout result was their Cavs vs. Magic total, where the margin was essentially zero (0.05%). Their EPL pricing came in at just 1.54%.
The catch is that 1xBet doesn’t cover the same markets as Canada-first books. Player props are thin even for major leagues like the NBA, and there’s no SGP or bet builder tool. If you rely on same-game parlays or prop markets as a core part of how you bet, you’ll hit walls quickly that you wouldn’t encounter at bet365 or Sports Interaction. Great for straight bets and totals, but not a one-stop shop.
Pinnacle does what Pinnacle always does. Consistent, reliable, and second in the rankings. No surprises, no blowups. Their worst result was 5.10% on the LA Kings/Columbus game. If you want a sharp, established option with proper licensing, Pinnacle is the reliable call. Like 1xBet, Pinnacle is one of the European bookmakers that Canadian bettors have come to rely on for odds quality, even if they weren’t built with the Canadian market in mind.
bet365 is the best of the mainstream licensed books. At 5.11% overall they’re the reliable option for anyone looking for a trusted Canadian betting site. The go-to if you want a fully licensed Canadian-facing book with proper market coverage.
Sports Interaction and bwin are the same as far as prices go. Every single line across all nine markets was identical between the two. If you’re holding accounts at both to shop lines, you’re wasting your time.
Betway is unpredictable. Best result in the field on the BYU prop (3.03%), worst on the Ottawa/Calgary opener (8.61%). You’ll get a good deal from Betway occasionally, but you can’t count on it.
Wildz had the single worst margin in the dataset: 9.44% on the BYU team total. Their NBA pricing is decent (4.18% average) but their inconsistency on other markets drags them down.
Three of the 10 books in our test are crypto bookmakers: Gamdom, Stake, and BC.Game. The results were all over the place, so the honest answer is: it depends entirely on which one you’re using.
Gamdom is the biggest surprise in the whole test. Third overall at 4.57%, ahead of bet365. Their NBA pricing averaged 3.11%, competitive with Pinnacle. They were particularly sharp on the EPL game (2.00%) and the Ottawa/Calgary opener (3.61%). Where they fell apart was on the WBC total (8.78%), matching BC.Game for the worst result on that market. Gamdom is worth using for mainstream sports, but be careful on niche stuff. Check out our Gamdom review for the full picture on what they offer beyond odds.
Stake (6.36%) and BC.Game (6.66%) are a different story. Stake matched Sports Interaction’s worst NHL result (8.17% on the Canadiens/Senators game) and came in at 8.03% on the BYU prop. BC.Game posted back-to-back 8.78% on the WBC and 8.81% on the BYU prop, two of the worst individual results in the entire dataset.
That said, BC.Game makes up some ground through promos and loyalty programs. Odds boosts, rakeback, and free bets are common rewards for regular players, and for consistent bettors those perks can meaningfully offset the thinner margins. If you play enough volume to benefit from these rewards, it’s worth factoring in. See our BC.Game review for a full breakdown of what’s on offer.
The takeaway on crypto books: don’t assume they’re better on price just because they operate differently. Gamdom is genuinely competitive. The other two aren’t.

If you genuinely care about getting the best return on your bets, the differences here are meaningful. The gap between 1xBet (2.71%) and BC.Game (6.66%) is nearly four percentage points. Over a full season of betting that adds up.
For straight bets and totals, 1xBet and Pinnacle are the clear answers on price. Just know that 1xBet won’t have the full suite of markets you’d get from a Canada-first book. If you want the sharpest lines alongside proper prop and SGP coverage, bet365 is a more complete option.
On the crypto side, don’t assume they’re better on price by default. Gamdom is legitimately competitive. Stake and BC.Game are not, though BC.Game’s promos and loyalty program can close the gap for regular players. If you want a broader look at how crypto books compare overall, our roundup of crypto bookmakers is a good place to start.
The bookmaker margin, sometimes called the overround or vig, is the percentage above true probability built into the odds. For example, a 5% margin means the book keeps roughly $5 for every $100 wagered over time. The lower the margin, the better your long-term return. Over a full season of betting, even a two or three point difference between books adds up to real money.
Based on our testing across nine games and three dates in March 2026, 1xBet had the lowest average margin at 2.71%, making it the best book on pure odds quality. Pinnacle was second at 3.81%. If you want the sharpest lines available to Canadian bettors, those are the two books to start with.
On odds quality, yes. Pinnacle averaged 3.81% across our tests compared to bet365’s 5.11%. That said, bet365 offers better market coverage, including same-game parlays, player props, and a broader range of Canadian sports. Pinnacle is the better choice if odds are your priority. bet365 is the more well-rounded option.
It depends on the book. In our test, Gamdom averaged 4.57% overall, which actually beat bet365 and most of the mainstream names. Stake (6.36%) and BC.Game (6.66%) were among the worst in the field. So the answer is: some crypto books are genuinely competitive on price, but don’t assume that’s the case across the board.
Both are owned by Entain and share the same pricing feed. Across every single market in our test, their lines were identical down to the decimal. If you hold accounts at both hoping to shop for better prices, you won’t find any difference between them.
1xBet had the lowest NHL margins in our test at 3.13% on average, followed by Pinnacle at 5.04% and bet365 at 5.78%. Sports Interaction, despite being a Canada-focused book, averaged 7.79% on hockey, which was one of the weaker results in the field. For NHL betting specifically, 1xBet and Pinnacle offer noticeably better value.
The odds aren’t great, averaging 6.66% across our tests. Where BC.Game makes up ground is through their promos and loyalty program. Odds boosts, rakeback, and free bets are regular features for consistent players, and if you’re putting in enough volume, those rewards can offset the weaker margins.
For any bet you’re serious about, it’s worth checking at least two or three books before placing. The data in this article shows that the difference between the best and worst price on a single game can be significant. Keeping accounts at a sharp book like Pinnacle or 1xBet alongside a mainstream option like bet365 gives you a good baseline for finding the best available line.
