Same-game parlays (SGPs) have become one of the most popular ways to bet on NBA games. Instead of picking winners across multiple games, you’re combining several outcomes from a single matchup into one ticket (say, LeBron to score 25+ points, the Lakers to cover the spread, and the total to go over). The appeal is obvious: it keeps your focus on one game and the potential payouts are much bigger than a single bet.
Mind you, SGP’s have a great appeal to Canadian bookmakers as well: the more events on a single ticket, the less likely they’ll need to pay you out. The CBC wrote an interesting article, specific to the Ontario market, in which they debate the ethics of SGP’s and how they’re advertised in the country.
Nonetheless, it can be a useful tool for some bettors, and SGP capabilities vary drastically from one site to the next. Some betting sites give you a full library of markets to mix and match. Others deliver a handful of basics and call it a bet builder. We tested 14 Canadian betting sites, both offshore and provincially licensed, across 42 NBA market categories to see who’s really delivering on the promise.
| Tier | Sites | SGP score |
|---|---|---|
| S – Best in class | Stake | 76% |
| A – Strong options | bet365, Play Alberta, Betway, PowerPlay, Coolbet, FanDuel, Sports Interaction, bwin | 50-57% |
| B – Decent coverage | BET99, Pinnacle | 31-40% |
| C – Limited SGP | BC.Game, Gamdom, ToonieBet | 21-29% |
Stake came out on top with the most extensive NBA SGP capability we’ve tested in Canada. Play Alberta was the biggest surprise, easily the best SGP offering from a provincially licensed book. At the other end, ToonieBet, BC.Game, and Gamdom are all pretty thin for parlay builders.
We logged into each site and tried to build same-game parlays across 42 market categories for prematch NBA regular season games. The SGP score is simply the percentage of those categories that were available to combine on a given game. We tested across multiple games and focused on common matchups rather than the biggest marquee games, which tend to have better coverage everywhere.
A few things worth knowing before you dig into the numbers:
Stake is the standout. This is a brand that didn’t even allow same-game multis a year ago, so the improvement has been significant. What sets them apart is the depth on defensive and advanced player props: steals, blocks, turnovers, assists by quarter, rebounds by quarter. These are categories you simply can’t access at most other Canadian sites.
One unique touch: Stake pays out your bet if your team leads by 12+ points at half, regardless of the final result. It’s a nice feature on certain SGP builds.
The interface takes a bit of getting used to. There’s a dedicated “Same Game Multi” tab, but you can also add markets from other tabs to your slip and combine them. It’s not immediately obvious what can and can’t be combined, to me it basically felt like trial and error to see what was possible. Worth the learning curve though.
A reliable, well-rounded SGP builder. bet365 covers the core player prop categories well: points, assists, rebounds, double-doubles, triple-doubles. It also layers in combo props like points & assists and points & rebounds. No defensive props (steals, blocks), and advanced stats like FT made, FG made, and personal fouls aren’t available. Still, for most NBA SGP builds, bet365 has you covered. It was also my favourite tool to use due to simplicity – it’s obvious which event can be combined, and the presented odds update as you build, opposed to most other sites where you don’t know the total odds until you add each event to your ticket.
This one caught us off guard. Play Alberta has one of the best SGP products among provincially licensed Canadian books, with market coverage on par with bet365. They cover several defensive prop categories that most competitors skip entirely, including steals, blocks, and turnovers, plus some advanced player milestone markets. If you’re in Alberta and want to stick with a local licence, this is the clear pick for SGP betting, but the brand delivers in many other areas as well, including an excellent signup bonus. For a full overview, check out our Play Alberta review.
Betway has a solid prop offering and includes quarter-by-quarter markets for points, assists, and rebounds, which is a step up from most competitors. They don’t have defensive player props, and the milestone section is partial, but overall it’s a capable SGP tool. We rank Betway as a good betting site for beginners, but a less appealing option the more experience you gain. Their SGP tool aligns with this thinking.
These two returned identical market availability and identical prices during our testing. They appear to be running the same sportsbook feed. If you’re choosing between them purely on SGP capability, you can flip a coin and go with whichever has the better promotion or deposit method for you. In my opinion, the choice is Coolbet – they’ve got some of the best ongoing promotions available in Canada. You can find out more details on our Coolbet review which breaks down their welcome bonus, other promos, and important brand details.
FanDuel is a strong book for player props, but the focus is almost entirely on offensive production. Points, assists, rebounds, double-doubles, triple-doubles are all covered. Defensive props (steals, blocks) are absent, and there are no advanced stats. Personally I don’t use FanDuel simply because they’re an American site, and to be honest, seeing their sub-par SGP tool was a bit of a relief for me! I’ll continue to skip them for now..
Both returned the same coverage in our tests. They cover the core player prop categories and handle match-level markets well, but don’t have steals or blocks, and the milestone section is limited to the basics. Functional rather than impressive.
BET99 covers the fundamentals: moneyline, spread, total, and core player props. But it’s noticeably thinner than the Tier A options. No advanced combo props, no defensive categories. It’s a workable SGP tool for straightforward builds, but you’ll hit the ceiling quickly.
Pinnacle’s SGP product has two issues. First, the market selection is thin on a per-game basis. For example on most Lakers games, you might only find Doncic available for double and triple-double markets. Second, there’s no traditional bet builder interface, which makes it hard to know what can and can’t be combined before you start building your slip. Pinnacle is excellent for sharp single-game betting and getting better prices, but it’s not the right tool for SGP builds.
Both sites make up for limited over/under player props with a decent set of milestone markets (will a player score 20+ points, grab 10+ rebounds, etc.). But neither comes close to the bet builder tools available elsewhere in Canada. If you’re choosing between the two and care mainly about SGP, go with Gamdom. Our testing showed better odds for equivalent markets.
The most limited SGP offering in our test. ToonieBet covers the main match markets and some core player props, but there’s very little to work with for same-game parlays beyond basic combinations. Not a reason to rule out the brand entirely, but worth knowing if NBA SGPs are a regular part of how you bet.
If you’re putting a same-game parlay together, here’s what actually matters when choosing where to bet:
Market Depth. How many categories can you actually combine? A site with 30+ available markets gives you real flexibility. A site with 10 doesn’t.
Defensive and Advanced Props. Most sites cover offensive player props. Steals, blocks, turnovers, and per-quarter stats are less common, and they’re where you can build more unique tickets.
Interface Clarity. Some sites make it very clear what can be combined (bet365). Others make you discover conflicts at the slip stage (Pinnacle). That friction matters when you’re building a multi-leg parlay, especially during a live game.
Odds on SGPs. Market depth doesn’t help much if the margin on combined bets is brutal. This comparison focused on availability, not pricing. Always check the parlay odds before committing.
Research conducted on NBA regular season games. Market availability may vary by matchup. Tested on offshore and provincially licensed Canadian betting sites in 2025.
A same-game parlay lets you combine multiple bets from the same game into one ticket. It’s a useful tool if you’re following a game script: if you think the Lakers will win in a blowout, you can combine Lakers win, Lakers over in points, and maybe throw in Doncic for a double double.
It’s worth noting that SGP gives the bookmakers an advantage as well. The more outcomes you combine on a single ticket, the less likely it hits. Some estimates suggest Canadian betting sites take over 50% of their revenue from SGP bets.
Based on our testing across 42 market categories, Stake has the most extensive NBA SGP capability available to Canadian bettors, but it’s not my favourite option due to the confusing layout and average prices.
My favourite NBA SGP tool is at bet365. It’s immediately obvious what you can/can’t combine, the prices are competitive, and the odds preview updates as you build your bet, opposed to most other sites that don’t show the odds until you add each event to your bet slip.
Yes, but they’re not the most common feature among Canadian bookmakers. Stake and Coolbet are two of the best options for defensive prop coverage.
Most betting sites, including FanDuel and Sports Interaction, limit their SGP props to offensive production.
Not really. Pinnacle is one of the best books for single bets due to low margins and high limits, but its SGP product is a pain to use. Market selection is thin, and there’s no traditional bet builder interface to help you understand what can actually be combined.
bet365 and Betway both have clean, straightforward bet builders that make it obvious what you can combine. Stake has the deepest market depth but the design is a bit awkward and takes some getting used to.
